5 Snarky and True Answers to Seemingly Unknown Questions about Hiking

No, I don’t know how far it it, but it’s probably…definitely farther then I told you. And as you walk away, I’ll feel a little bad about it. Just a little.

Yes, hiking with a speaker blaring music does make you an asshole. Thanks for asking.

Yes, you should pick up that piece of trash you see next to the trail even if it is not yours. And hell yes if it is yours! The only bigger assholes than hikers with loud music are the ones that leave their trash on the trail.

Yes, orange peels count as trash! Pack it in, pack it out. Don’t leave a Hansel and Gretel like trail of Fruit peels littering the hike. Remember what happened to them? I’m not saying they deserved it, but…

And finally. Yes, it is “worth it”. Why else would someone have gone through the laborious effort to build this dang trail, and why would you know about it and be here if it was not “worth it”? You are outside, in nature, getting exercise. Anything else is just a cherry on top. It may be cliche, but hiking is often truly about the journey not the destination.

You are welcome.
