Are Fancy Merino Wool Hiking Socks Worth the $20+ Price Tag? Darn right they are!
This could have been my shortest Post ever... Yes they are totally worth it!
I first bought some fancy Darn Tough merino wool socks back in 2014 when I was planning a 3 week trip to Argentina and the Peruvian Amazon Rainforest. I needed socks that could easily be washed by hand, be great for long days on your feet and solid in both chilly and hot weather. After much internet research I landed on the Darn Tough socks, with their life time warranty and Made in America features I gave them a try.
They served me well on that trip and have been heavily warn since. I wear them for running and hiking. They are perfect for roller and ice hockey, keeping my feet comfortable in the skate boots. I even wear them when I play basketball or field sports like soccer or football. They have held up after all this time and under intense use.
I used to get terrible blisters when I play sports no matter what the footwear or what socks I tried. With the merino wool socks, I almost never get blisters. They are great at wicking away the sweat and provide amazing for, comfort and cushion. Plus they are naturally antimicrobial!
I have warn the same 3 pairs all these years and will bring them on my upcoming JMT hike. I love these socks and I wish I had known about them earlier. They would have made my feet very happy in high school and college sports.
Theses socks are slightly pricier than a standard wool sock, but their durability, warranty and comfort are totally worth the price tag!
Try them and love them.
FYI: If you click through any of the Amazon affiliate links on my website and purchase ANYTHING (even if it's not that exact item) during that session on Amazon, I get a small kickback. So please do it and help support my website and my future adventures!
