The Best Way to Recover Your Feet After Long Runs and Hikes: A Little Green Ball
The Due North Foot Rubz massage ball is the single best piece of sports recovery equipment I have ever used. Better than the often hyped foam roller.
It is a perfectly simple tool, designed to allow one to easily and quickly self administer amazing foot massages.
I first came across this little guy about 3 years ago when Tim Ferris recommended it in his weekly news letter (which is great and you should definitely check it out @ Tim.blog). They sounded like an interesting idea and he usually has pretty great recommendations. So I bought two, gifted one and used the other one heavily ever since.
After a long hike or run I just sit down for a few minutes and rub my foot around. A couple min per foot and they feel rejuvenated and loosened up.
They are great preworkout too as a way to loosen up tight feet.
I've used them after late night hockey games when I didn't feel like doing a full stretch routine at 1am on a Tuesday and I have noticed my feet and legs both feel much better than the days I don't do any recovery.
The little ball is only $6 and is a great tool for normal workout recovery as well as a perfect item to bring traveling as you can get relief from such a compact and light tool.
I brought one my long trip abroad as I expected us to have some long walking and travel days. It was amazing and I used it so often. I also love to use it on flights to keep my legs and feet active and loose.
Buy one or a few, keep them handy (or footy) for any time your feet are tight/tired/or just want a little massage! They are amazing.
Thanks Tim for the awesome recommendation and I hope I can convince a few others to give them a try!

At the end of every day, at some point, I wish I were wealthy so I could hire a professional masseuse to rub the ache out of my feet before going to bed. It sounds like such a delicious luxury for my always throbbing feet. Soooo, I just ordered a foot rubz instead and I’m excited to give it a go, and for now, I’ll consider it a good second best since the whole private masseuse thing isn’t exactly probable at this point!
Haha I feel you Susan. I use this almost every day at the end of the day. It feels great and is relaxing. It does take a bit of time to get a feel for it and what areas of your feet respond best to different amounts of pressure. I hope you enjoy it!
